The growth of parallel film production industries in India, Africa, China and the South Pacific is infiltrating and challenging conventional US film production. This paper looks at a range of examples from 'world cinema' and also considers how the movements of people, of technologies, money, ideas and cultures are producing new styles of storytelling for the screen.
