Digital Business (2022)

Digital Business gives students a sought-after blend of business and IT skills to prepare you for a career as a digital manager in our fast-evolving world. You will gain an understanding of the latest digital technologies, such as big data and cloud computing and how they can be used to revolutionise business operations and customer service across all industries, from banking and finance through to agriculture and healthcare.

Digital Business is available as a first major for the Bachelor of Business (BBus) and the Bachelor of Management Studies with Honours (BMS(Hons)). Digital Business may also be included as a second major or minor in other undergraduate degrees, subject to approval of the Division in which the student is enrolled.

To complete Digital Business as a single major for the BBus and BMS(Hons), students must gain 135 points from papers listed for Digital Business, including 105 points above 100 level, and 60 points above 200 level. Students must complete DIGIB101, MGSYS101, DIGIB200, DIGIB201, DIGIB202, DIGIB302, DIGIB303, DIGIB304, and one of PRMGT302 or STMGT306. BBus and BMS(Hons) students may count one of WSOMM396 or WSOMM399 in place of either PRGMT302 or STMGT306.

To complete Digital Business as part of a double major for the BBus, BMS(Hons) or other undergraduate degree, students must gain 120 points from papers listed for Digital Business, including 90 points above 100 level, and 45 points above 200 level. Students must complete DIGIB101, MGSYS101, DIGIB200, DIGIB201, DIGIB202, DIGIB302, DIGIB303, and DIGIB304.

To complete a minor in Digital Business, students must complete 60 points from the papers listed for the Digital Business major, including at least 30 points above 100 level. Students must complete DIGIB101.

  • Prescriptions for the GradCert(DBus) and GradDip(DBus)

    A Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma are available to graduates who have not included Digital Business at an advanced level in their first degree. The qualification regulations define the subject requirements for the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma. There are no specified subject papers that must be included for these programmes.

  • Prescriptions for the PGCert(DigiBus), PGDip(DigiBus), BBus(Hons) and MDigiBus

    The qualification regulations define the subject requirements for the BBus(Hons), PGCert(DigiBus), PGDip(DigiBus) and MDigiBus. There are no specified subject papers that must be completed for the BBus(Hons).

    PGCert(DigiBus) students must complete DIGIB555 or DIGIB558, and select the remaining 30 points from the papers listed for the subject.

    PGDip(DigiBus) students must complete DIGIB555 and DIGIB558, and select the remaining 30 points from the papers listed for the subject.

    MDigiBus students normally follow either a professional or research stream and are recommended to discuss their programme with the qualification convenor. Typically, the professional stream normally requires DIGIB519, DIGIB555, DIGIB558 and DIGIB552, and the research stream normally requires DIGIB558, DIGIB591 and MNMGT581.

  • Prescriptions for the MPhil

    The Master of Philosophy is a one year research-based degree in which students undertake a programme of approved and supervised research that leads to a thesis which critically investigates an approved topic of substance and significance, demonstrates expertise in the methods of research and scholarship, displays intellectual independence and makes a substantial original contribution to the subject area concerned, and is of publishable quality.

  • Prescriptions for the PhD

    The Doctor of Philosophy is a three year research-based degree in which students undertake a programme of approved and supervised research that leads to a thesis which critically investigates an approved topic of substance and significance, demonstrates expertise in the methods of research and scholarship, displays intellectual independence and makes a substantial original contribution to the subject area concerned, and is of publishable quality.
